Working at Joules

  • What attracted you to Joules and why did you choose to work for us?
  • Originally I began as a Part-Time Sales Assistant in the Monmouth Joules store. My original intention was that it would be temporary until I found a graduate role, however, I immediately fell in love with the brand and began looking for opportunities to progress in the company – and that is how I became a member of the Shows Department!
  • Tell us about a typical day…
  • A majority of my time is spent at locations all across the UK, from Chelsea Flower Show in London, to Bulith Wells, Wales. On a typical trading day, we open the stand up at 8am, and then I will manage the team, which includes a morning briefing, writing rotas, delegating roles and responsibilities, making sure targets are met and ensuring customer service is excellent. Towards the end of the day, whilst the stand is being closed, it is all about cashing up and finishing the paperwork.
  • What's the best thing about working at Joules?
  • For me there are two things. The best thing about my role is having the opportunity to travel all across the UK and seeing beautiful places. The best thing about working for Joules is the opportunity to be involved in an expanding, exciting company – whilst always feeling like you are an integral part of the company, and not just a number.
  • What’s been your biggest achievement so far?
  • My biggest achievement was being the Event Manager for a five week show in central France – it is the longest I have run an event for by myself, and of course, being abroad came with its own unique challenges.
  • What qualities make someone successful at Joules?
  • Everyone I meet within the company is always so passionate about both the brand and their own department which is always exciting. So I think everyone is passionate. I also think we are all team players.
  • What do you think makes Joules unique as an employer?
  • I think it is that everyone always feels included and important. In big companies, often it can be impersonal. Whereas at Joules everyone is treated as important and as an individual.
  • What would your advice be to someone considering joining Joules?
  • Do it! There are so many exciting opportunities.

A bit more about you...

  • What is your favourite film or book?
  • I love reading – my favourite for a long time has been 'Wuthering Heights'.
  • What’s the best holiday you’ve ever been on?
  • My best-friend got married in Disney World, Florida, where I was bridesmaid – so that was a really special holiday to share with her.
