What attracted you to Joules and why did you choose to work for us?
Living in the local area I was aware of Joules and I loved the brand. At the time (four and a half years ago), I wasn’t entirely sure where my life was going career wise. My mum worked at Joules which gave me some great inside knowledge about working here and the possible future opportunities. And so when a job came up, I jumped at the chance!
Tell us about a typical day…
I’m not sure there is a typical day on the IT project team! I work on my individual projects or we work together on our larger projects. We work with others in the business to understand requirements and business processes for new projects or changes to current processes. Most days consist of some problem solving too, and supporting new developments that we have worked on.
What's the best thing about working at Joules?
I have made a lot of great friends while I have been at Joules – there really are great people here! Also the great opportunities I have had - I started in the Trade team, working side by side with my mum (which I loved). I applied for a position on the merchandising team as a trainee merchandiser, which I luckily got! During my time in merchandising I was promoted and the skills I gained were invaluable. I have since then had another great opportunity to work with IT as a Junior Business Analyst. It’s been a steep learning curve and I have loved every minute of it.
What’s been your biggest achievement so far?
I have two – the first while I was in merchandising. I was given responsibility to range the entire footwear range for a season. To be able to plan an entire season and then watch your planning become reality was really rewarding. I think my most recent biggest achievement has been getting my current position on the IT team. I was approached by the Head of IT, which felt like an achievement in itself, and after an interview process I was offered the position! Working on projects that help the company move forward really makes me feel like I have the chance to make a difference.
What qualities make someone successful at Joules?
I think being a team player is really important – being able to see the bigger picture and work with people from across the business as one team.
What do you think makes Joules unique as an employer?
I have never worked anywhere where as many people as here have worked in more than one department. A lot of people have had great opportunities here, me included! Its great for Joules too because people have a greater understanding of what other people do and cross functional processes which helps us work as one team.
What would your advice be to someone considering joining Joules?
If you enjoy a challenge, can adapt easily to change and want to have a little fun, then go for it.

What’s the best holiday you’ve ever been on?
My honeymoon! We went to Las Vegas, The Grand Canyon and (best of all) Hawaii! It was a once in a lifetime trip and everything was just perfect!
What’s the best present you’ve ever received?
The first Christmas my husband and I had together we decided not to get any gifts for each other but instead we got a kitten. Best present ever!
